With help from statuesque Simone and saucy Shivaun, fit and flexible Karen begins the episode by leading us through a gentle full body stretch. Although much of belly dance is centred in the core muscles, dance is about allowing the body to move with the music, so put your whole body into the ‘Step-Touch-Step’, and the ‘Egyptian Figure Eight.’ The choreography of the ‘Turkish Bump’ can be a workout for your brain as well as body, so feel free to review the teaching section a few times if you are a beginning dancer. If typing away at a computer has got your upper back stiff, ‘Chest Circle’ and ‘Liquid Arms’ will not only ease the pain, but prevent future aches by strengthening those neglected muscles, and they are damn sexy to boot!
