Domenique first discovered her love of dance at the discothèque. Forever in search of the next dress-up dance party, it would only be a matter of time before she traded in her polyester for sequins and beads. Upon finishing a visual arts degree with honors from the University of Victoria, she found she had plenty of time to pursue her love of dance. She traveled to the countries where belly dance forms originated to experience their cultures and study their different styles of belly dance. For the past nine years she has studied belly dance with teachers such as Asmira and Nath Keo in Canada, and Ahu Ozkaran in Turkey. While dancing with Asmira Dance Theatre, she won several awards and performed in Canada, Costa Rica and Turkey. As a belly dancer, her training in classical Egyptian and modern Turkish belly dance, as well as experience as a gymnast and model make her performances particularly engaging. Dominique says she will always keep belly dance in her life, as it is a great way to stay in shape and it compliments her flirtatious nature.
