Choreographer: Kim Pechet
Growing up as the daughter of a professional football player in a house alive with spiritual energy, Kim soon learned the truth of Einstein’s assertion that dancers are the athletes of the gods. Having formal training in ballet, jazz, modern, African dance, improvised movement, martial arts and as a certified yoga instructor, Kim is well-versed in anatomy and recognizes the power of the mind-body connection. This ensures that her dance instruction is physically safe and spiritually engaging. A protégé of master teacher Elizabeth Carefoot, Kim has studied belly dance for over two decades, spending seventeen years as a professional dancer and a decade as a belly dance instructor. During her years as a teacher, she has taught thousands of students from 5 to 90 years of age, from diverse background, in all shapes and sizes. It is not only her training and experience that make Kim such a special teacher — it is her passion for and respect of this ancient art that makes her instruction so precious.
Director & Cinematographer: Ian Kerr
A love of light and its ability to influence story and audience has driven Ian to seek out projects that benefit from an artistic eye and unique visual approach. Ian’s work has been recognized by a number of awards including a 2011 Emmy Award for Outstanding Cinematography as well as Gemini and CSC awards. Ian also shot Facing Ali which was shortlisted for an Academy Award. Ian’s work often straddles the gulf between fiction and non-fiction, documentary and drama. His assignments range from meticulously executed commercials to dynamic sixteen camera “unscripted drama” projects to month-long polar and mountaineering expeditions. His projects have taken him from the jungles of Papua New Guinea to the ice floes of the Arctic to the thin air of the Argentenian Andes at 21,000 feet.
